Housing

The table below shows the inventory of residential subdivisions in the municipality totaling to 4,153,055 sqm of land or roughly 415 hectares.

Health

The Municipality’s crude birth rate (CBR) in 2018 was 13. Notably, it showed an erratic trend from 2015 to 2019 but only by a small percentage. 

 

The crude death rate (CDR) of Plaridel in 2018 was 4. From 2015 to 2019, the CDR had a declining trend but only by a small percentage. 

 

At present, Plaridel has five (5) private hospitals, one (1) government-owned infirmary hospital and four (4) rural health units operating in the municipality. There is a total of 336 health personnel composed of 137 doctors, 136 nurses, 27 midwives, and 10 sanitary inspectors catering to the needs of the residents. 

 

In the Municipality’s 19 barangays, a total of 26,832 households have access to sanitary toilet facilities while 27,379 households do not. 

 

Plaridel has 12 burial grounds: nine (9) are public and three (3) are private. 

Education

The municipality currently has a total of 55 schools spread across different barangays. 34 of the said number are elementary schools; 16 are secondary schools; 2 are tertiary schools; and the remaining 3 are technical/vocational schools.

Protective Services

In Plaridel, there was an erratic trend in the total number of crimes from 2015 to 2019. For the latter year, there were 48 recorded index crimes, and 476 non-index crimes. The Plaridel Police Headquarters is located in Brgy. Poblacion with 40 personnel. 

 

The Municipality has one (1) Municipal jail located in Brgy. Poblacion, with 19 personnel, and 1:7 personnel-to-population ratio. It is currently within minimum standard which is 1:7 jail guard-to-inmate population ratio. 

 

In terms of fire incidence in the municipality, the BFP had documented an increasing trend from 2017 to 2019. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) headquarters in the municipality is located in Brgy. Poblacion. They currently have 19 personnel and three (3) fire trucks to serve the population’s needs.  

Sports and Recreation

At present, the Municipality of Plaridel has 30 sports and recreation facilities across different barangays. These auditoriums serve as a venue for different gatherings and activities in those barangays. Some also serve as evacuation centers during disasters. 

Social Welfare

The Municipality of Plaridel had a total of 2,136 beneficiaries for the year 2018 with 29 staff for all three types of facilities operating under the supervision of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office  

 

In 2019, there was a total of 9,907 beneficiaries of the Senior Citizen Center which is located in Brgy. Poblacion.   

ECONOMIC PROFILE

Plaridel is an agricultural, commercial and industrial town. The main crop planted in the area is rice where 2.671.65 hectares, which is being planted in great part of the municipality, or 98.23% of the total agricultural land. The volume of production of all crops, except rice and mango, has increased significantly between 2018 and 2019. A total of 9.83 hectares have been utilized for various livestock and poultry raising, with cattle farms occupying the most area with 6.19 hectares in 16 barangays, distributed among 13 raisers/tenants. Cattle farms had the greatest number of animal livestock in 2019 with 688 heads. Meanwhile, carabao raising had the greatest number of tenants with 29 by the end of 2019, but had the least number of heads (153) in the sector. Plaridel has at least 20 fish stalls which supplied the local market with 43,20 metric tons of fresh fish products in 2019.

Agriculture

The main crop planted in the area is rice where 2,671.65 hectares, which is being planted in great part of the municipality, or 98.23% of the total agricultural land. Far second to rice in agricultural land utilization is for mango at 1.01%, followed by plantation of eggplant (0.26%) and tomato (0.11%). Other crops in the municipality are ampalaya, okra, sitaw, and red hot beans.  The volume of production of all crops, except rice and mango, has increased significantly between 2018 and 2019. 

 

A total of 8.83 hectares have been utilized for various livestick and poultry raising, with cattle farms occupying the most area with 6.19 hectares in 16 barangays, distributed among 13 raisers/tenants. Cattle farms had the most number of animal livestock in 2019 with 688 heads. Meanwhile, carabao raising had the most number of tenants with 29 by the end of 2019, but had the least number of heads (153) in the sector.  

 

 BFAR has also provided fish stalls which supplied the local market with 43.20 metric tons of fresh fish products in 2019.

Commerce and Trade

Most of the major commercial areas are located in Banga I and Tabang, two of the most populous barangays in Plaridel. These urban places outside the Poblacion, the political center, cater popular commercial areas, as well as the Central Business District of the municipality. Table 5.1 shows the current footprint of these establishments in terms of land area.

Tourism

The Municipality’s attractions falls into four (4) categories. These are: Cultural Tourism, MICE Tourism, Health, Wellness, and Retirement Tourism, and Leisure and Entertainment Tourism.

 

The Municipality of Plaridel has at least 16 classified Tourist attractions within the locality.

Population and Religion

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) shows that Plaridel had a population of 107,805 in 2015. Of this total, there were 53,646 males and 54,159 females.

The largest age group in 2015 was the 15 to 19 years old cohort, with a total population of 10,708; while the smallest age group for the same year was the 80 years old and over cohort, with a total population of just 826. The population of the Municipality is relatively young, given that 55.67% of the total population of Plaridel are under the age of 30.

The labor force in 2015 made up 67.33% of the total population or equal to 72,581 people. As such, there is a large supply of manpower available in Plaridel which can be the driving force in the growth of various sectors and in turn make Plaridel an ideal investment and business center.
